What We Believe

We believe that Christ has commissioned His church to make disciples through the proclamation of the Gospel, through the administration of the Sacraments in accordance with His instruction, through instruction in the Christian faith, and by fostering Christian fellowship and service in Bay City, MI.

God: We believe in One God, the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Bible: We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God, the only true, inerrant, and reliable guide for faith and life.
Sin: We believe that all people from their birth are sinful, separated from God, and are in need of forgiveness and salvation.

Jesus Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, who, through His sacrifice on the cross, suffered the penalty and paid the price for the sins of all people. He offers all people forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
Faith: We believe that we personally receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life as a free gift of God by trusting in the suffering and death of Jesus Christ as our Savior. We believe the Holy Spirit works this trust and faith in our hearts.

Means of Grace: We believe the Holy Spirit works through God's Word and the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that Holy Baptism is a "washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit" as St. Paul declares in Titus 3:5. We believe that the Lord's Supper is the true Body and Blood of Christ, with the bread and wine. It is not a symbolic eating and drinking. We believe that the communicant who receives the Sacrament in faith actually receives the forgiveness of sins.
